Bruiser is a resident male dog in one of the larger temples in Koh Phan Gan. He has been castrated and fully vaccinated by PAC but unfortunately on a routine visit to the temple PAC staff found Bruiser with a broken front leg. On finding him, it was estimated that the leg had been broken for 1-2 weeks already, and although Bruiser was not using the leg, he appeared bright and happy.
As PAC has no x-ray facilities, Bruisers treatment could only focus on supporting the broken leg and providing him with adequate pain relief. Bruiser was brought back to the clinic, mildly sedated and his broken leg was securely bandaged to provide support. He was given pain relief and then an e-collar was put on to prevent him biting off his bandage.
Bruiser was returned to his home in the temple where he was monitored daily. The process of replacing his bandage was carried out several times until the bone had begun to heal and Bruiser was weight-bearing through the injured leg. Bruiser's leg is now fully healed and he is living very happily back in the temple.

See Nin is one of PAC's older patients at approximately 11 years old. See Nin is a stray dog that has taken residence at Koh Phan Gan's police station. He suffers from recurrent skin problems which at their worst leave him with large bald areas and open sores on his skin. See Nin was provided with weekly visits from PAC staff to give him medication for his skin problems.

PAC staff have also provided him with regular tick and flea treatments as well as regular worming. He now has a full health coat and is enjoying life at the police station.

Fly holds a special place in the hearts of PAC staff. Fly is a stray female dog found by PAC staff who lives a short distance from PAC's clinic at a petrol station. When she was found at approximately 7-8 months old.

She was completely bald due to demodectic mange, with severe open wounds to her skin, and was seriously underweight and malnourished.

Fly was bought into the clinic and put on a strict feeding program of 3 small meals a day to gradually increase her body weight.

She was given worming treatment and put on antibiotics to treat her severely infected skin. Once she had no open sores anymore, it was possible to begin weekly skin washes which over time successfully treated her skin problems. Within 10 weeks of being found by PAC staff, Fly had a full and health coat and had put on 4 kgs in weight.

Once she was healthy enough to undergo surgery, Fly was then spayed before being returned to her home at the petrol station. Fly is monitored regularly by PAC staff.

Dixie is a large male dog who lives in and around some small houses available to rent. PAC staff were alerted to his case when a kind Thai lady living in that area contacted PAC by phone. PAC then visited the area and found Dixie with a large maggot infested wound on his neck, probably the result of fighting.

He was given some medication that would kill the maggots internally within 24 hours. PAC staff then returned the next day with the trailer attached to the clinic motorbike (Dixie was too large to be carried on the motorbike) and bought him back to the clinic.

He was then sedated and the wounded area was completely shaved of hair and flushed thoroughly with betadine solution. Then any remaining maggots were removed. Once the wound was completely clean, it was then packed with negusant powder which would kill any remaining maggots and the area was bandaged. Dixie was returned to his home and PAC staff visited him daily to clean the wound and apply antibiotic cream. Within 10 days his wound had completely healed. Dixie has since been wormed, castrated and fully vaccinated.

Cha Cha is an old female dog who belongs to a local Thai family who could not financially afford to seak treatment for her. Cha Cha has a long term skin problem which left her almost bald and her skin like leather. Her owners were provided with medication at no charge to attempt to treat her skin problem. Tick and flea treatment was also provided.

Over a two month period, Cha Cha's skin showed good improvement and significant hair re-growth. Due to her age and the poor condition of her leather-like skin, improvement has been slow, however the overall condition of her skin is much improved and she appears much more comfortable. Cha Cha remains on treatment for her skin and PAC staff review her regularly.
